Matsuri Festivals
Share
Matsuri are traditional Japanese festivals. For most Japanese people, the word matsuri likely brings to mind natsu-matsuri(summer festivals), where portable shrines called mikoshi and elaborate floats parade through town. Summer festivals feature traditional games like goldfish scooping and plenty of classic festival foods. There are also matsuri in other seasons, such as cherry blossom festivals in spring, harvest festivals in autumn, and snow festivals in winter. Each town and prefecture has its own unique matsuri, offering a wide variety of local traditions and celebrations.
