A vintage Japanese Urushi lacquered wooden cake stand by Zohiko. Zohiko is a renowned Urushi lacquerware manufacturer based in Kyoto, established in 1661. The item is marked with the maker’s seal on the base.
The stand is lacquered in red Urushi on the inside and black on the outside, with the rim decorated in gold-colored floral motifs all around. Its size is perfect for displaying fruits and small pastries. It can be hand-washed with mild soap, but should be towel-dried immediately to prevent water stains.
