A vintage Japanese bronze vase/pot by Kobayashi Shomin (1912–1994). The body features a hammered surface, accented with cross motifs on all four sides, and a tapering cylindrical form. Its original use was as a holder for Japanese calligraphy brushes. Marked with the artist's seal on the base.
