Collection: Kokeshi dolls

Traditional Japanese Kokeshi dolls, handcrafted from wood and painted by artisans in nothern Japan. Originally made in the hot spring regions of Tohoku during the nineteenth century, Kokeshi began as simple toys and souvenirs, but over time they developed into collectible folk art objects.

Each doll is turned on a lathe and finished by hand, giving it subtle variations in form and expression. With their minimal shapes and calm painted faces, Kokeshi dolls bring warmth and personality to an interior while remaining quietly sculptural.
